Meet Fraoch Tones Wool Art

Winner of our 2024 Competition, Carolyn Laing lives in Edinburgh, and fell back in love with crafting in the first Covid lockdown. She started learning more about needlefelt and after initially trying a few kits, fell in love with the medium.

Carolyn uses wool from many different breeds and in various forms but particularly enjoys using Blue Face Leicester dyed curls for texture in the sky and foreground. She also uses tweeds, silks, beads and embroidery to give her work texture.
